Canada Ranked Number 2 Country in the World
The yearly U.S. News & World Report global survey for 2018 has ranked Canada second for Best Country overall, just behind Switzerland. The survey—conducted by U.S. News & World Report in conjunction with Y&R’s BAV Group and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania—considered 80 countries and surveyed 21,000 global citizens on multiple factors of life and global appeal. Factors such as economy, equality, innovation, culture, and many others were considered.
Of the nine main categories which contributed to the overall score, Canada ranked in the top ten of four categories. Most notably, Canada ranked first in the Quality of Life category and fourth in the Citizenship category. There were 12 additional categories, of which Canada ranked in the top ten of nine and top five of four of those, including education, raising children, transparency, and headquartering a corporation.
U.S. News & World Report has been conducting these surveys since 2016 as part of their Best Countries portal program. Canada has ranked second three years in a row, and each year it has ranked first in the Quality of Life category.
